project guest room

our guest room needs attention.  currently, we are using it to house anything and everything we don't want to deal with right away - laundry, toys, more laundry.  it's really not that bad and would take all of 5 minutes to clean up, but keeping it clean is a whole different story.  about a year ago, we managed to get rid of all the boxes and junk that took over the guest room from when we moved in, in hopes that we would give the room PURPOSE.  so, in order to give our guest room PURPOSE, i am deeming this weekend project guest room.  we are going to get paint swatches, look for a desk, look for a day bed, and make a firm plan.  our two main obstacles are SIZE (verrrrry teensy tiny room) and LAYOUT (one wall has the window, one wall has the door, one entire wall is the closet, leaving only ONE open wall and a small one at that).  ultimately, the room will serve as our home office, but also have the space for a guest or two to sleep comfortably.  my husband also uses this room's closet for all of his clothes and shoes - heck there is no room in our bedroom's closet for ANY of his stuff, whoops ;)  that is something else we might address, but i rather doubt it.  guests don't usually stay long enough to be granted access to their own closet.  anyhow, below are some ideas for our guest room.  i am excited to shop this weekend and see what we come up with!  all of the photos are from my pinterest board: humble abode.

so, as you can see, i dont really have anything in particular in mind.  i am loving stripes and chevron right now, but i might just stick with solid color on the walls, who knows.  what i really need to do is get some firm measurements and find some multifunctional and fun furniture. hopefully this weekend will be very productive!

happy decortating!
